Acceptance of terms

By creating a Scute account or using the Scute app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Scute.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scute. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to keep it current. One account per person — shared or duplicate accounts may be removed.

Acceptable use

Scute is for finding running partners. You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Use the app for dating, solicitation, or any non-running purpose
  • Impersonate another person or create a fake profile
  • Send spam, commercial messages, or unwanted content
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Use automated tools to scrape or interact with the service
  • Use Scute for any illegal activity

We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these rules.

User content

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, messages). By uploading content to Scute, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit it as needed to operate the service — for example, showing your profile photo to your running match. We may review and remove content that violates these terms or that we determine is harmful.

Strava integration

Scute connects to Strava to read your running activity data. By connecting your Strava account, you authorize us to access your run data as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Strava is also subject to Strava's Terms of Service.

Intellectual property

The Scute name, logo, design, and app code are owned by Scute. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app or by emailing us. When you delete your account, all of your data is permanently removed as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may also suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice.

Safety disclaimer

Scute connects you with other runners, but we cannot guarantee the identity, intentions, or behavior of any user. When meeting a running partner:

  • Meet in a public, well-lit area
  • Tell someone where you're going
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, don't go

Scute is not responsible for any interactions that occur between users, whether online or in person.

Disclaimers

Scute is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that you will receive a match every week. We are not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app or from meeting other users.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scute's total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, since Scute is free, is $0). We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app. Continued use of Scute after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
